PRESS RELEASE: Valley View Community Food Bank Partners with Radiant Church to Expand Services and Help Feed More People in the Community
Sun City, AZ – Valley View Community Food Bank has announced that it will be distributing donated food to the Radiant Church’s food pantry, now known as Valley View at Radiant, effective April 14, 2014. Radiant Church will provide distribution days to those seeking assistance for food twice a week in hopes of reaching more people in the Valley that are food insecure.
“Radiant Church is a great supporter of the food bank,” said Jesse Ramirez, founder of Valley View. “By becoming a distributor, Radiant Church is allowing us to reach more people and making it easier for those living in Surprise to get the help they need. Our goal is to make sure that anyone that needs food gets it. And this partnership will really allow a lot more people to get food on their table.”
Valley View at Radiant is open to the public and will distribute donated food to Surprise residents in need without any restrictions. The food bank will have weekly deliveries to the food pantry so they can distribute nonperishable food items and wholesome nutritious food such as local fruits and vegetables.
Radiant Church will be supervised by Joseph Ramirez, Head of Food Bank Operations and will be open to receive clients from 9am-11am every Tuesdays and Thursday. Those seeking help should come during business hours to: 15522 W Paradise Ln, Surprise, AZ 85374
About Valley View Community Food Bank
Valley View Community Food Bank was founded in March 2007 by Jesse Ramirez. Jesse served at the West Side Food Bank in Surprise, AZ for 21 years before starting Valley View Community Food Bank. After seeing a greater need in his community, Jesse wanted to help those in his surrounding area by creating a Food Bank that welcomed it's community with open doors.
The Food Bank was originally started in a Sun City location that was 500 square feet and had 3 volunteers. They've grown and operated successfully and in 2012 Valley View moved it's operation to a 64,000 square foot building where it now serves 264,000 families and is supported by over 760 volunteers. The Food Bank currently gives over 13,200,000 lbs of shelf stable food and 14,437,000 lbs of fresh produce to those in need. For more information, please visit http://www.YourFoodBank.org/.

Last week we posted online (our website, Twitter and Facebook) about how our large trailer was stolen from our parking lot. The trailer was being used to pickup citrus donations from around the valley from residents and local companies. The fruit would have gone to waste had the food bank not offered a gleaning program that picked and delivered the fruit straight from the trees directly to the food bank. The healthy food is then given to local families, elderly, working poor and children who are in great need. The loss was devastating to say the least.
But THANKS TO YOU ALL, the word was spread fast and a wonderful company stepped up to help the food bank! PlayCraft Trailers is now donating a brand new trailer to us and we are so grateful! The outpour and the support we have received online from the community is amazing! Thank you for sharing, retweeting and posting our story.
Please take a moment to visit PlayCraft Trailer's website and/or Facebook page and support a wonderful local small business. They have saved the food bank thousands of dollars and we will be able to pick up large food donations again for our hungry neighbors.
Thank you all again and thank you PlayCraft Trailers, we really couldn't do it with you!
